This reptile has a yellowish body with blue and black spots and a white belly. Wild Geckos have darker shades than the captive species. Like other reptiles, they also molt, and in the days preceding this event, the pattern is less evident and more grayish. Its tail is segmented, and it can lose part of it and regenerate it in the future.

It is a terrestrial species with nocturnal habits. During the day it hides under rocks or in burrows. It does not have suction pads on its feet and therefore cannot climb soft areas. However, it is an agile animal capable of climbing rocks and branches where it can reach better sources of heat.

Because their bellies are white, it is possible to clearly identify when the females are pregnant, because you can see the eggs through the skin. On average, they have 2 eggs per laying and hatch after 45 to 53 days.

The population of this species is stable.
