Two Cotton-top tamarin offspring have been born at the Zoo

Another important step in the conservation of the Cotton-top tamarin (Saguinus oedipus), which is classified as “Critically Endangered” by the IUCN.

The main threats to this species are the destruction of its habitat, illegal capture for use in biomedical research and sale as a pet. It is estimated that there are only around 2,000 individuals left in the wild, divided into small populations and confined to forest fragments.
