Zoo Santo Inácio welcomes a new species

For the first time in history, Zoo Santo Inácio has received an individual of this species through the ESB programme. Zazoe is a young facocero that came from the Ouwehands Dierenpark, in the Netherlands. At Zoo Santo Inácio, it can be seen in the Savannah, a habitat shared with white rhinos and zebras from the plains.

The facocero or African common warthog (Phacochoerus africanus) is a wild pig native to the African continent and, according to the IUCN, is classified as “Least Concern”.
